Sony PVM-14L2 (and PVM-20L2) - How to turn on the tally lamp

I recently picked up my first PVM, a Sony PVM-14L2 to play my old consoles on. The monitor is in pretty good condition, but given it's age (20 years) it's due for a cap kit. But that's a project for another day, right now I want to talk about the tally lamp and how to turn it on.
What is a tally lamp? I'm glad you asked! It's an indicator light used in TV studios to easily tell what is being broadcast. There is a counterpart light mounted on the camera so the people being recorded also know which camera to look/speak at. Did I know it was called a tally lamp before I bought it? I actually had no idea what it was called until I found @RetroTechUSA's youtube video about it: here.
Why turn it on if don't have a TV/broadcast studio? Idk, I think it looks nice :D
So, how do we turn it on? Given it was designed to be a signal from an outside device, there is no actual button to turn it on. The signal is received via the "Parallel remote terminal" located at the back of the monitor (purple circle).

Now, some monitors like this one have this easy to find/cheap RJ-45 connector (standard nework connector), while the older models have DIN connectors that @RetroTechUSA covered in his video.
Looking at the service manual (internet archive ftw) it says the tally light is enabled by connecting pins 3 and 5:

So, how does this work in real life? Grab a RJ-45 connector, a tiny bit of network cable (cat5/cat6/cat7 or even an old telephone cable will work) and align as shown: connector release button facing down and count left to right: pin 3 and 5. Crimp with a crip tool.

Some glamour shots:

And when we turn on the monitor: the beautiful solid amber/orange glow appears.

Since this was a quick hack, I only used a single wire from a network cable. This means the strain relief boot cover (what a mouthful) ie, the blue thing, is just barely hanging on to the edge of the connector instead of being wrapped around a cable and will fall off easily.
Will I make a better/sturdier connector with a whole network cable? Probably, but this will do for now as I don't plan on unplugging it much.
Why did I write this post for something so simple that the service manual only dedicates part of a page to? I had trouble finding the answer to "how do I turn on the light on the top of a PVM?" myself, so I figured it would be good to have it written down somewhere. Who knows, maybe someone else finds it useful too.
